Two meanings
als + role · bei + company/institutionIch arbeite als Projektleiter focuses on the role. Ich arbeite bei einer Firma focuses on the employer or place.
Work questions
Ich bin Ingenieur.

Common mistakes
Do not translate every ‘as’ or ‘at’ mechanically; choose the German pattern by meaning.
Remember dative after bei.
For a profession after sein, German often omits the indefinite article.
